Marriage Sermons

A. Looking at the first four chapters of Genesis we see God’s creation and the establishment of Natural Order He created the world; Gen.1:1, skies; Gen:2:1, animals; Gen 2:1, man; Gen.2:7, woman; Gen 2:18-22, marriage; Gen 2:23-25, and then the family; Gen:4:1, 2.

B. The breaking of natural order started with the first sin; Gen.3

1. The breaking of God’s natural order caused man a curse of work, pain, shame, and death. The curse of Adam, Eve, and the serpent, Gen.3:14-19.

2. Remember the breaking of God’s natural order removes his protection   and the safety that was instituted in that order. Adam and Eve was told to leave the garden for breaking his natural order.

3. The breaking of God’s natural order is sin and brings judgment from God if there is no repentance.

A. Let’s take a common sense look at the breaking of God’s natural order.

B. Can you imagine how the world would be if we tried to change:

1. Air (breathe nitro-oxide for a while and the body would explode)

2. Sun (do you have a better source of heat than this?)

3. Gravity (let’s just float around for a while)

4. Family - Can you imagine what the world would be like if the family just disappeared. The total disruption of saneness would occur. Family is one of God’s natural orders that we would not want to change.

C. Whether we like this or not to change the family has a serious effect on children and their security.

1. Have you noticed how much natural order has changed even in this simple fact of parents use to have lots of children, but now children have lots of parents. The change of God’s order, rampant divorce for example, has brought insecurity to children like few other issues.

2. Can anyone argue against the fact that divorce of a mother and a father has proven to destroy families? Then what do we think changing the traditional view of a man and a women will do to children and the family? That change will be catastrophic. Proverbs 23:9-11 is a warning not to speak truth to a fool, not to remove old land- marks and provoke the fatherless, for God will plead their case. In the Holy name of God we must not allow same-sex marriage to destroy God’s natural order for the family.

3. A family lead by two women or two men statistically will prove to be the beginning of the worse disaster that will fall on the family since Cain got angry and killed his brother Abel in Genesis. Let’s take a look at God’s natural order should be communicated to prove this point.

A. It was once a fact that the church could be convinced by the word of God Alone, but that is no longer true. Truth and statistics must be used now.

1. How can fifty states be wrong? All fifty states fall in line with our fore-fathers in saying that they never intended for God and the states to be separate. All fifty state’s constitutions acknowledge God. Psalm 96:13 says “He will judge the world in righteousness and the people in His Truth.” God has said that the best for children is a family with a father and a mother. How then can states vote against the God they acknowledge?

2. After viewing acknowledgments of God from all 50 states constitutions, one would be faced with the prospect that maybe, just maybe, the ACLU and the runaway federal courts are wrong.

3. From a quote of William Penn: “Those that will not be ruled by God will be ruled by tyrants.” I think we must acknowledge the truth in that statement.

B. It use to be true that common sense and statistics could convince the world, but that is no longer a truth that can be depended upon. Today one must use statistics and fear.

C. The same-sex family on average would be putting children in homes that simply do not last.

1. The life span of the average homosexual in the US is 44 years, in Africa it is 33 years. They spend at an average $200,000 for medicine, and a Holland study has said 18 months is the average length of a homosexual relationship and within that time they will have 8 different partners. STD’s are 400 per cent higher among homosexuals than the national average of any other people group. Can this be good for our children?

2. In Sweden, Denmark, and the Netherlands the illegitimacy rate, the decline of people getting married, and higher divorce can all be attributed to the fact that they have passed laws to accept same-sex families. In marriage or in same-sex state sanctioned unions, we must ask can this be good for our children.

What must we do to protect the family and our next generation? I think we must do several things if we are to win this fight for God.

First: we must acknowledge that this is a spiritual war- 2 Cor.10:3-5; Eph.6:10-18

Second: To understand the Christian’s personal response is to stand up rather than to bow down and to stick out rather than to blend in! How do we do this you may ask? The scripture has the answer to this question of course.

A. Stand to protect the children,

I Cor.16:13; Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, and be strong.

B. Contend for the truth that same-sex families are harmful to children,

Jude 3; Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

C. Defend the safety of our children like there is no tomorrow,

I Peter 3:15; But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear. 

D. Reproduce in our children the same thinking of the Lord,

2 Tim. 2:2; And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 

Many Christians are more interested in resting and relaxing than fighting, and in convenience than commitment…watching from the sidelines as religious spectators than fighting on the field as Christian soldiers for Christ. If this attitude continues to prevail we have truly given our children over to a secular and condemning future. May our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ give us all the strength that is necessary to do what is right to protect his natural laws and thus save our children.
